At last, at effin last!!! We got back to playing. The conditions were a bit 'iffy' but at least we got some games played. That’s the good news…. Now the down side. Dundee Social missed out yet again, their Scottish tie was put off on Thursday…..Yes effin Thursday and apparently this is quite alright with the powers that be who run the competition. You couldn't make it up!!! Also on the downside, no result from Club 67 who have added another £10 to their phone fines. Continuing on the not so good, we had a no show from Doc Ferrys and it does not look too good for them. Finally wrapping up the bad news Tayport won their Scottish cup tie through in Edinburgh….Ooops sorry lads that should be in the good news, or should it!!!!! Another round of the national competition for the Fifers… 'Good Times'.
Sandys went out of the Scottish by the odd goal in seven against Saints Club. Big Webby was quite calm and laid back 'we were awful, as poor as we have played for a long time, we struggled Blah blah blah blah blah…' ZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Goalscorers for Sandys Kevin Kelly (2) and John Foley. No worries Webby, plenty of big games ahead.
Douglas Athletic qualified in their Alex Smith section with a 3-2 win over Michelin. Michelin dominated the first half and deservedly went off at half time 1-0 up. A few choice words were said at the interval and the Douglas lads responded big time. Terry Malone equalised and Russell 'The Hedge' Headridge notched a double his second after a great assist from Mark 'Bridget' Neilson It's a straight fight now between Michelin, Tayport and Dundee Social as to who joins the Blue Man U. The Social need one win from their last two games against …..Tayport and Michelin. The latter need to win their remaining games and hope for slip ups from their rivals.
Birkhill gave themselves a great chance to qualify from their Ross Kirk section. A terrific 4-1 win away to FC Planet means they need a point from their last game against Cobbies to top the section and join Blackness as qualifiers from the group. A Daz Conway hat-trick and a Steven Brown single capped a fine Birkie performance Fintry Athletic went top of the Pilot Garage First Division. Goals from John Foreman and Dean White sealed a good home win over Blackness.
Angus Thistle defeated Cutty Sark in the McGuire Trophy 9-7… yes you are seeing correctly 9-7. An amazing game saw both sides trade goals with Cutty leading 5-4 before the Jags came back to lead 9-5 further goals from Cutty saw it finish 9-7. Two goals each from Colin 'Bomber' Lancaster, Tam Ballantine, Kevin Clancy and Scotty Williamson with Bryan Brown completing the scoring for the Jags.
That's all for now folks… Cheers and take care, Alex.

Hello again folks. C'mon lets hear it for Stevie Russell of Douglas Athletic. 'Tarzan' spent almost the whole day Saturday looking for a playable pitch to get his Tayside Cup tie against Cliffburn played and all his hard work paid off, not only did he find a park in Arbroath but the game went ahead and the Blue Man U chalked up a 16-0 win. That's the type of spirit we will require by everyone from now on in to get our season back on track. The next round of the Tayside Cup due on 24th January has been put back a couple of weeks, another casualty of the weather I'm afraid.
You will have noticed that the Dundee Tele had copy in regarding a monthly meeting due on Monday. The meeting was of course held last week and there definitely will not be a meeting this Monday. The next Monthly meeting is on Monday 8th February.
If the weather continues to improve, I fully expect to see some football this Sunday. We must however pull out all the stops and if that means moving parks at short notice, then so be it. It is the ONLY way we will pull this round and see the season finish on time.
Think very very carefully before asking for free weeks. Only ask if absolutely necessary and forget about asking for free dates towards the end of the season.
I have just presumed that the Scottish ties were off today. Sandys / Dundee Social did not let me know. C'mon lads you know the procedure, all local games were off on Friday, how am I meant to know what is happening out of town.
That's it for now, fingers crossed we will be back in action soon. Cheers... Alex.

Hello again folks. Don't know about you but this Global Warming has got me reaching for the sun tan oil…. NOT. What the eff is all that about? We are constantly being bombarded with warnings about global warming, we must do this, we must do that, we are all doomed if we do nothing. Well pardon me for being a wee bit cynical but what a load of shite!!! We were told in the summer by the 'experts' 'get the barbecues out it is going to be a long hot summer' what happens? It rains and then rains a bit more and then it bloody rains even more. Never mind though said the 'experts' it is going to be a really mild winter Oh and watch out for all those nasty flu virus because the mild weather will see a real flu epidemic hitting the population. The 'mild' weather saw the temperature hit minus ten in Dundee the other morning and about six inches of snow. If that's what the 'experts' call mild I wouldn't like to see what they call bloody freezing!!!! Where do they get these 'experts' from, and what is the point in them spouting the pish they do night after night ? I can't wait to hear what they have in store for us in the summer. As for Global warming, well who knows, I'm no expert but neither are the half wits who try to scare the shit out of us with tales of doom and gloom!!!!
Now I've got that lot off my chest, where was I? Oh yes so where does all that leave the Dundee Sunday Morning Amateur Football Association? Well we will try again with the same fixture card next week although you would have to ask the 'experts 'about the chances of any games going ahead. The Scottish ties have been postponed three times and I am assuming that they will now reverse with our teams travelling to Livingston, Perth and Edinburgh respectively. I am only assuming mind you because as ever with this competition it is a guessing game and it may well be a reversed reversal, reversed back after the reversal. Does that make sense? NO…well now you know how I feel!!! I keep getting asked how we will handle the backlog and get the games played, well until we actually start playing I cannot start to make any plans. As I have said before if we all pull together and use a bit common sense then we will get there, as we usually do.
Just been watching the ActiveNation Scottish Cup draw, what is this ActiveNation all about, what does it mean? Are they trying to say we are all lazy slobs? Anyway it might have a new name but some things never change. Yes the 'hot' ball and the 'cold' ball managed to avoid getting drawn together and if I had a spare 5p (which I don't) I would put it on the two balls meeting sometime in May at a venue somewhere in the West of Scotland. A venue I have visited many, many times over the years and came back a bitter, twisted and miserable man, usually at the hands of the 'hot' or 'cold' ball. Wait a minute though, with this global warming thing being all the rage maybe my own team should speak to one of the 'experts' who know all there is to know about the hot and cold... just a thought!!!

Hello folks and a Happy New Year. Well we are still ploughing through the white stuff and looking at the long term weather forecast we will be in the brown stuff pretty soon as far as the fixture backlog goes. It’s a case of wait and see, fingers crossed and anything else you can cross that the temperatures rise, the snow goes and we can get back playing. The first fixtures of the New Year are a repeat of the last ones in the old year, already it looks grim with the weather for this Sunday, but as I have said we will just have to wait and see. It goes without saying of course that even a slim chance of a game going ahead should be grabbed and everything done to get games on. Think about it this way. In 12 weeks time the first midweek games will be going ahead!!!
Well that is if the snow has cleared up by then. Think about this as well, one of the coldest winters on record was 1963, yep a long time ago but that particular year the cold snap gripped the country for 11 long weeks. That just does not bear thinking about.
Another wee reminder, if you needed one of course that the first monthly meeting of the new year is on Monday 11th January at the usual venue. Meeting starts at 7.30pm. So what’s in store for Morning football people in the New Year? Well the obvious one of course is quite simple …..to finish the current season, hopefully sometime before July!!! I would also hope that some of our players get a grip and show a bit of respect to referees. I know that frustrations can boil over at times, but the refs are just like the players, committee and officials… we all make mistakes!!! I watched a game a while back and I could not believe what I witnessed. The game was nothing special and was tied at 1-1 with ten minutes left, just as I was thinking of leaving, a long ball was played through which the defender had time to take not just one touch but any amount he wanted. What did he do? Well instead of taking a touch and clearing the ball he took a fresh air swing, missed the ball completely and in doing so laid it on a plate for the in coming striker to crack into the net. Now if that was me I would have put my hands up and said sorry to my team mates for making an arse of it….Not our man, no no effin chance!!! He started screaming at the referee that the goal was offside and that he was a cheatin effin this and that, well you can picture the scene. Two things came to mind that day. What an effin embarresment that was and why the f.@*k do I bother. So come on lads the day you are perfection that’s the day you might have a case. Until then gie it a break!!!!!!
Now as you all know we of Tannadice have lost our manager. If he had went to a good job in England then you wish him all the best, but he has moved to the worst football job in Scotland. A team full of players with ego’s the size of Ben Nevis and as much ability as the display in Burton’s window. Oh dear. Oh dear, Oh dear and what of the football fraternity in Scotland? Anyone who thought they were anybody threw their tuppence worth in ‘yes he is the man for the job’ they said. Bloody right he was …for them!!!! Never mind the terrific job he was doing at our club. ‘Get him out of the way they will soon be back in the shit’ that was what they were thinking but not saying! OK call me bitter, call me an old cynic, but am I right?????
That's it for now... Cheers Alex.
