Well would you believe it……NO I couldn’t either. AFC Kokomo not only phoned in their result but…..wait for it they notched up their first ever win in Morning football. A 1-0 win over Cobbies at Lochee Park did the trick. What’s that ..who scored, what kind of game was it ? Come on you must be joking, lets get them to phone results in every game that would be a start!!!! Anyway lads, joking aside, very well done and lets hope it’s the first of many… phone calls that is!!!!!

Douglas Athletic played their delayed Tayside cup game against Dalhousie and the Blue Man U made no mistake with a 5-0 win. Two brilliant early strikes from Paul ‘Bend It Like’ Dolan paved the way. He went on to complete a memorable hat trick with a great free kick. Russell ‘The Hedge’ Headridge completed the nap hand with a second half double.

The Centre Cars League Cup saw wins for Bayview who edged out Blackness. Harlequins went to penalties against Bonargrove and the Quins eventually held their nerve to win the shoot out 8-7. On the Scoresheet for Bonar were Kenny Dunn, Gary Markie and Davie Hynds. Tayport moved into round two with a 3-1 win at home against FC Planet while Lochee Central won a seven goal cracker against Fintry Athletic at South Road. Goals from Cameron Lamb ( 2 ), Sean Johnston and a winner from Chas Lynch with just two minutes left on the clock. A brilliant show from Billy Carlin’s lads.

Club 67 moved into round three with goals from Kyle Cormack, Ricky Shaw, Kevin McIntyre and James Tracey enough to put Ferry Innter out of the competition. On league business Cutty Sark picked up three much needed points in their defence of the Strathmore Glazing Premier Division title with a 2-1 win over Michelin. Bobby Scott and Errol Johnstone on the Cutty scoresheet.

Dundee Social led Angus Thistle 1-0 at half time and a tight game looked on the cards but a second half blitz from Social put paid to that. A hat trick from Kevin Scott, all in the space of five minutes, a double for Mark Paton and singles from Keith McKenzie, Neil Bone, Kevin Robertson and Ross Noble had the gaffer a happy man. In The Pilot Garage First Division Birkhill gave up home advantage after their pitch was waterlogged and moved their game against Doc Ferrys to Dawson Park. The Birkie lads produced a great ninety minutes. Four goals from Darren Conway, doubles from Marc Brownlie, Steven Douglas with Kurt Head, Mark Stuart, Sean Menzies and Marco Perez capping a brilliant display.

Just a another wee reminder lads if you needed it, it is now officially winter and with it the problems the weather brings. We must make every effort to get games played. We managed it last season and as we progress into the winter months the same efforts will be needed.

That’s it for now... Cheers, Alex.

Latest DSMAFA News

Hello again lads and lasses. Well a new week, a new day but alas same old, same old. AFC Kokomo did not phone in AGAIN, oh well Mondays Executive meeting should be interesting and again I have to report that a Tayside cup tie did not go ahead….the reason being a no show from the referee. A poor show but as ever until I get the full story I will keep things quiet. I am still waiting on a response from the Referee’s Association regarding a couple of no shows on 4th October, I will keep you posted.

Holders of the Tayside Sunday Amateur Cup, Cutty Sark are out. They fell at the first hurdle this season. In a repeat of last years Final against Tayport it was the Fifers who were celebrating. Star man was Steven Smith who hit all five goals in a 5-1 win. Angus Thistle at last reported a win after a few dismal weeks. The Jags were 4-0 up at half time against Cobbies thanks to goals from Kevin Clancy (2) and Brian Brown (2) but the Fifers hit back with two early second half goals. It was the Jags day however as they held on to move into round 2 of the Tayside Cup. Doc Ferrys put up a great show before late goals for Annfield Road broke their resistance. On target for a good Docs side were Scott ‘Soapy’ Soutar (2), Dale Kerr and Steve McKenna.

A Jamie Bell double set Fintry Athletic up for victory against Whitfield at Fintry Park. Fintry reached the Semi Finals of the Regional competition last year, can they go one step better?

Sandys put out Poleteam in Perth with an emphatic 6-1 win. A Brent Mitchell double with singles from John Foley, Ewen Grant, Neil Halliburton and Steven Boyce. FC Planet made no mistake at home to Badgers Bar. A Steven Houston hat trick, a Craig Burns brace and a Mikey Lamb counter setting up a 6-2 win over the Perth team. Bayview were 2-0 up with 15 minutes to go against Harlequins in the Tayside Cup and looking good for round two but an amazing comeback from Quins took the game into extra time where the eventually saw off a brave Bayview side. Two goals from Neil Thomson, John McIntosh, Martin Walker and Michael Jorgenson as Quins moved into the second round.

Club 67 hit five without reply against Blackness. A James Tracey hat trick, Ryan Rigden and Jorey Kinney for a good Club side. Who had star men in Kyle Cormack and Kevin McIntyre.

Dundee Social hit an amazing seventeen goals in Perth against Mondo. Highlight was a 50 yard rocket from Jamesie McCord ‘ The best goal I have ever seen ‘ commented Social gaffer Kevin Vials as he watched his side stroll into the next round. On domestic duty Ferry Innter picked up much needed Pilot Garage First Division points in their win against Broadway Stars. Two goals each for Craig Wilkie, Kevin Fitchet, Jamie Wilkie with Ian Maxwell and Kevin Hogg clinching an Innter win.

That’s it for now... Cheers Alex.

Hello again folks. Well another mixed bag today which leaves me shaking my head in disbelief. First off, AFC Kokomo and Broadway Stars will be fined as per constitution for not phoning in results and then amid some disgraceful scenes at South Road the FC Planet v Dundee Social game is abandoned. I will not make any comment on the abandoned game because it will be dealt with by the Scottish. I was not present to witness the goings on myself but everyone present saw what happened and from the reports I have heard, the Scottish will take a dim view of the proceedings. In round two of the Scottish, a goal from Ian ‘Bond’ Fleming gave Douglas Athletic a 1-0 win in Perth against Poleteam.

Cutty Sark went through after beating Annfield 5-4. Goals from Robbie McAlpine, Paul Johnstone, Lee Hunt, Terry Conner and James Deasley. Sandys hit Stobswell for eleven as they progressed to round three. A nap hand from Ewen Grant, another hat trick for George Murphy, his second in a week, David McDonald, John Foley and a rare goal from Chris Waddle.

Angus Thistle are battling to overcome a form slump at the moment. The Jags went down 3-1 to Cobbies over in Fife. A Mark Hird goal was all they had to show from an encouraging display especially in a good first half against the Fifers. Bonargrove won the all Morning clash against Lochee Central. A double from Davie Hynd with singles from Tommy King, Rad Al-Nadaf and Mark Middleton. Another all Morning game saw Harlequins hit six past Bayview. A Neil Thomson hat trick, Chris Taylor, Martin Walker and Calum Donnachie. A twist of fate sees Bonargrove meet Lochee Central again this week in the Strathmore Glazing Premier Division while Bayview will play host to Harlequins in the Tayside Cup. Both games at South Road.

In the Ross Kirk Trophy Goals for Stevie Brown and a magnificent volley from Gavin Forrester gave Birkhill a 2-2 draw with Blackness. The Birky lads feel they should have won this after missing a host of chances.

Club 67 lost out to Fintry in their Ross Kirk Section. A double from Ryan Rigden and a George Murphy single not enough to take anything from the game, going down 7-3.

Finally, I was speaking to my very old mate Ronnie Dittrich, he of the funny coloured hair. (Very Strange) Anyway Ronnie is a big supporter of the Blue team and he was blethering a right load of pish about the Blue team and the Green team moving to England. ‘We are as big as them, we could win it in a few years’ and other assorted bollocks. I read Bill Leckie in the Sun saying that if they wanted to go he would put them on a bus and drive them there himself. Well count me in as the bus conductor. What a result if they went, it would be brilliant to see them go. If Scottish football cannot survive without those two then what a sad state we are in. The rest of Scottish football should stand up and be counted. They don’t want to be here so encourage them to go, help them pack their cases. Once they are gone that’s it, no reserve teams playing in the SPL, no looking back. Bye Bye all the best and we move on. C’mon you know it makes sense for them and the rest of Scottish football.

That’s it then, all the best ……Alex

Hello again folks. Well it was the local holiday weekend in Dundee and a couple of referees took it upon themselves to take a holiday. Nothing wrong with that …but they did not bother to tell me!!! Now just like clubs who fail to appear we will wait to hear why this happened. The games in question were Bayview v Michelin and Club 67 v Doc Ferrys. The Bayview game was put off while the Club 67 game went ahead with another ref. I will once again remind all clubs that they MUST phone their match referees to confirm their game. If you do not and the ref fails to appear then consider yourself 50% responsible. As I have said I do not know why these referees failed to appear, but they did not call off to me and until I find out the reason this is the last that will be said on this subject.

The games that did go ahead saw some great action. Harlequins take top billing today with their 3-2 win over Champions Cutty Sark. Goals from Michael ‘Rooney’ Jorgenson. Chris ‘Meatpaste’ Taylor and Martin ‘Spewy’ Flynn. A brilliant performance from the Quins but what is it with those nicknames? Very Strange!!!! Bonargrove showed no mercy to struggling Angus Thistle at Claypotts. A 9-2 win with a Craig Stevens hat trick, Chico Lamont (2) Mark ‘Sheva’ Middleton, Robbie Smith, Lee Cochrane and Mustafa Al-Safar putting Bonar in a good position in Alex Smith Trophy Section (B).

Sandys got back to winning ways and big Webby is on top of the world. A George Sutherland hat trick had Webby drooling and left Douglas Athletic to reflect on the many chances they missed. Goals from Asi Rafiq and Terry Malone for Blue Man U but Parve Khan was not a happy man after the game. Club 67 and Doc Ferrys produced 13 goals at Caird Park with the Club winning 9-4. Three goals each for Ryan Rigden and Graeme ‘Hoppy’ Christie with James Tracey, Brian Young and George Murphy making a nifty nine. Matty Adams, Dale Kerr and two goal Scott ‘Soapy’ Souter on target for Docs.

Fintry Athletic maintained their 100% record in the Pilot Garage First Division with a fine win over Cobbies. Goals from Jamie Bell (2) Bobby Buchan (2) and Alex Martin as Fintry go joint top with FC Planet and Club 67.

That’s it for now, another eventful day in the world of Morning football……but wait it’s the Scottish next week Agh….hold on to your hats and anything else you are close to because anything that can happen usually does and this is only round two ….it’s all in next round look out those maps and book your bus for a trip to anywhere………good times. Yeh really, no honestly.

All the best and take care... Alex.
