Hello folks, I hope you are well. The Alex Smith and Ross Kirk Trophies kicked off today and there will be a slight change to the competition rules. As ever the sections are based on a league basis, with games over 90 minutes. The winners of sections A will play the runners up in sections B and vice versa with the winners of section B playing the runners up in section A in knock out semi finals played to a finish. If clubs are level on points in the sections they will be separated based on the head to head results. If the head to head results produce a draw then we go to goal difference, if that is level the team who have scored the most goals will get the nod. If everything is level and we are unable to separate the teams a play off will go ahead.

A great game at South Road saw Douglas Athletic take the points from Lochee Central in Alex Smith(A). An own goal from Dale McIntosh gave Lochee Central the lead but he made up for his mistake by grabbing the equaliser for the Blue Man U. Davie Honeyman broke Lochee hearts with a second half winner for Douglas. The Douglas lads were full of praise for the Lochee side. Manager Parv Khan commented ‘ Lochee dominated the first half and a draw would have been a fair result. They are a really good side who will cause problems to a lot of sides this season.

Sandys were given a real going over from Dundee Social at Lochee Park. A 9-1 scoreline and even big Webby was lost for words!! Angus Thistle were 2-0 up at half time against Harlequins thanks to goals from Mark Hird and Tam Ballantine but a strong wind and a much better Harlequins side in the second half blew them away. A 4-2 win for the Quins and its back to the drawing board for the Jags!!

Doc Ferrys picked up full points against Broadway Stars in the Ross Kirk Section(A). A hat trick for Darren Elder, a double for veteran Gordon Smith, singles from Scott ‘ Soapy ‘ Souter and Paul ‘PJ’ McDade. A five star show from midfielder Gareth Aird who was terrific.

FC Planet are in great form just now and they produced a brilliant five goal win over the water against Cobbies. A double each for Steven Houston and Ricky Scott with Craig Burns making it a nap hand. Blackness produced a hatful of goals to see off AFC Kokomo who to their credit although well beaten kept going right to the end. Neil ‘ The Hit Man ‘ Harvey and Chris Small grabbed hat tricks, Wayne ‘ No 10 ‘ Lorimer and ‘ Viduka ‘ Moffat both notched doubles.

It's a busy few weeks coming up with Scottish and Tayside cup ties on the 11th and 18th October throw in our own domestic cup ties and it will be a jam packed month for cup ties.

That's it for now; all the best and take care…..Alex.

Hello again, well a full house this week and did we need it!! Let’s hope it’s a sign of things to come. Club 67 sit proudly at the top of the Pilot Garage First Division. A terrific 3-2 away win against Cobbies with goals from James’Bubble’Tracey, John Thomson, and George Murphy. A man of the match show from Scott Drum. Joining the them at the top are FC Planet who have made a great start to the season. A 6-2 win at Claypotts saw off Doc Ferrys. On target for the South Road side, Steven Houston (2), Mikey Bannen, Andy Low (pen), Craig Burns, and Ryan Fyffe.

In the Strathmore Glazing Premier Division the Champions Cutty Sark maintained their unbeaten start to the season. Goals from Tam Darling (2) and Lee Hunt were enough to get past Bayview at Finlathen.

It’s smiles all round for big Webby and his Sandys team, they won the Lochee derby against Lochee Central 3-1. A fine game saw goals from Davie McDonald (2) and John Foley clinch the points, with Andrew Heggie and Kevin Johnson in fine form for the winners.

Bonargrove and Dundee Social made it through to round two in the Scottish… deep Joy!!!! Bonar hit nine past Olde Mill, with Craig Stevens, Mark’Sheva’Middleton, Davie Hynds, Robbie Smith (2), Rada Al-Nadaf (2) and Kenny Dunn (2) all finding the net. The Social beat fellow morning side Blackness thanks to goals from Steven Gracie (2) Jamesie McCord and Gavin Blues.

Just a reminder that the next monthly meeting is next Monday 21st September. As ever all clubs must be represented. If you are not there, you will be fined!!!

I hope you have all got over the shock of Scotland failing to beat those bloody no-hopers Holland last week ?......Honestly the Dutch are ranked third in the world, we are no where and couldnae hit a cows arse wi a banjo and still everyone is shocked that we did not win. Now they want to bin the manager and bring in …….sorry I can’t bear to say their names, lets just say one’s a former manager of the Blue team and one’s a former manager of the Green team. We’ll if that’s a good move I am a bloody millionaire babe magnet!!!! Come on lets get real, leave the manager in place for the next Euro’s and if we get there ….Great. If we don’t qualify the manager will go himself.

The nights are starting to draw in and that means the X Factor, frozen pitches, Strictly Come Dancing, waterlogged pitches, the X Factor, postponed Scottish games, the X Factor and more postponed Scottish games, even more postponed Scottish games. Do you see the common them? Yes its loads of out of tune singing on a Saturday night….NO no sorry just a wee reminder this early in the season that we will be hit with many postponed pitches and EVERYONE must do everything they can to get games played.

All the best and take care... Alex.

Well what a week!!! It started bad and got effin worse as the days went on. As you will have noticed I had to scrap a whole fixture card because no one bothered to let me know the bloody Scottish cup was due on 6th September. I am reliably informed that the dates for these rounds were set and approved some time ago and are included in the council minutes which are sent out to every association. The problem is I DO NOT get sent these minutes. My affection for this wonderful competition just grows and grows, It truly is a wonder of the world…………… aaagh someone pass a bucket!!!

So on we went, a new fixture list, some new blood pressure tablets for yours truly and surely nothing else could go wrong……….Ehm well not quite, as we all saw it proceeded to piss down for two days solid and washed out practically every game. I say practically because Tayport managed to get their game against Lochee Central on. An 8-1 win for the Fifers. While Sandys played up in Perth against Badgers Bar and would you believe Big Webby’s boys, well they actually went and won hitting nine goals in the process. A nap hand for George Shields, two for John Foley and singles from Brent Mitchell and David McDonald. I may have been mistaken or it may just have been interference on the answer machine but I could have sworn I heard Webby laughing as he read out his scorers………..very strange goings on!!! I mean Morning football's answer to Victor Meldrew laughing …no surely no it has been some week I must be hearing things now.

So we will try again with week 4 and surely this early in the season we can’t have any more games off... can we?

All the best and take care... Alex.
