Hello again folks. It will be another brief news page this week but all match reports will be in the Tele on Friday. Can I just remind you again that if you are playing midweek it is vital we kick off sharp to avoid failing light, can you also have all match scores in by 9.15pm at the latest.
Would all clubs who currently hold trophies, please have them back to the executive committee no later than the April monthly meeting.
The next Tayside cup management meeting is on Wednesday 1st April in the Glens Lounge. The draw for the quarter finals will take place.
Take care, all the best… Alex.

Hello again morning people, I hope things are good. It was a full house this week thank f.@ck for that!!!
It wasn’t a good day for the premier duo Dundee Social and Douglas Athletic. The Social went out of the Tayside Cup yet again… this time it was Fintry Athletic who triumphed by the only goal of the game at Fairmuir that broke Social hearts. It is amazing that a team who have in recent years dominated morning football have never had the same success in the Sunday Regional Trophy. Douglas Athletic came a cropper against Douglas LFP, a team who they beat 6-0 just a couple of weeks ago. A 3-2 win for the Lads FP’s means a draw in their last Alex Smith sectional game against Dundee Vics will see them into the semi finals. Anything less and the Blue Man U could nick it on goal difference if they beat Bonargrove in their last game. Cutty Sark were held to a draw by Dundee Vics in the same section. Bobby Scott and Barry Heggie for the Cutty with Sean Allen and Kyle Cormack, a result which clinches top spot for Cutty but eliminates the Vics. They still however have a big say in who goes through to the semi finals as runners up.
The Strathmore Glazing Premier Division saw Bonargrove come from two down to defeat Sandys by the odd goal in five. A double from Craig Stevens and a Robbie Cochrane counter cancelled out earlier goals from Paul Murphy and Brent Mitchell for Sandy’s. A cracking game at Lochee Park. Tayport who are still very much in the title chasing pack picked up three vital points with a 2-0 home win over Michelin. The Fifers have a great home record and it should be some run in with Cutty and Douglas Athletic.
In the Pilot Garage First Division Four J’s kept on the tail of leaders Harlequins with a tight 4-3 win against Blackness. The Blackie will feel a bit sore after goals from Kenny "Ginger Magician" Laing, Wayne "No 10" Lorimer and Chris Ward were not enough to take anything from this game. Angus Thistle were in fine form away to Gauldry. Always a hard place to pick up points the Jags came home with a 6-2 win. A memorable solo effort from Mark "Hirdy" Hird capped a terrific hat trick, Scott Dolan celebrated becoming a dad by getting on the scoreboard, Colin "Bomber" Lancaster who recently hit the big "Four O" began the veteran stage in style with a goal and finally Andy Murray (Can’t be can it?) completed the sixsome.
FC Planet showed no mercy to bottom club Doc Ferrys hitting ten without reply. Strikers Steven Houston and George Murphy notched four goals each with Craig Burns on the mark with a double. Leaders Harlequins consolidated at the top with a 4-1 home win against Ferry Innter and Lochee Central who are a bit behind, but if they win their games in hand can catch the Quins had a fine 2-0 home win over Bayview.
That’s it for now lads, all the best… Alex.

Hello folks, I trust you are well. Another full card….well almost. Not for the first time this season we had one game off, same team, same venue. We obviously have a problem with this team at this particular venue, so for the time being anyway I will be allocating a new home venue for Big Sandy and his boys. We must get games played, how many times do I have to repeat it. If teams will not do their bit to get games played then steps will be taken to try and ‘help them out’.
On the playing front, Cutty Sark booked a place in the last eight of the Tayside Cup with a 5-1 win in Arbroath against Crown Inn. A double from Bobby Scott and singles for Stan McIntyre, Lee Hunt and Errol Johnston
In the Strathmore Glazing Premier Division, Champions Douglas Athletic consolidated their lead at the top with a convincing 3-0 win over Michelin. Matthew ‘Lifeboy’ Leitch, Ian ‘Enrique‘ Smith and Danny ‘ Hitman‘ Moir on the scoresheet. Jocky was full of praise for his goalie Graeme Finnan who he described as ‘the best Sunday Morning goalkeeper in the world‘. The wee taxi driver then went on to wax lyrical about a ‘miracle save’ from the world’s best and even suggested that Mr Finnan might have some magical healing powers in his hands. I think wee Jocky has been at the sherry!!!!
Bonargrove picked up three good points with a 4-1 home win against Crescent Star. Goals for Robbie Smith, Chico Lamont, Kenny Dunn and Craig Stevens.
The Pilot Garage First Division saw bottom club Doc Ferrys run promotion chasing Bayview close before losing out by the odd goal in five. Goals from Matty Adams and Craig Gilruth gives the Ferry side hope for the future.
All clubs currently holding trophies from last season are reminded that they have until the April monthly meeting to hand them back to the Executive Committee.
New phone number for Michelin’s Ian Smith 01382 / 506443.
The March monthly meeting is on Monday 9th March, Semi Final draw for Centre Cars League Cup and Quarter and Semi Final draw for the McGuire Trophy will take place.
That’s it for now, all the best… Alex.
