Here we go then, it’s week seven and it has been a reasonable start to the season, some ups, some downs. I hope it’s not the start of things to come but that’s two results outstanding from today. Dundee Vics v Tayport, no result from the Vics and Lochee Central v Douglas Ath, Douglas called in with the result but nothing from Lochee Central who were the home team. Lochee are usually on the button with their results but… not today!!

Angus Thistle were at it again today! 5-3 down to Ferry Innter with 4 minutes left on the clock…yep you are correct, final score Ferry Innter 5, Angus Thistle 6. What is it with the Jags and these late late late come backs? Douglas Athletic were 5-1 up against Lochee Central and looked home and hosed, but the ‘jags syndrome‘set in and Central stormed back. Not enough though and Jockys boys recovered to win 6-3.

Blackness won their first game of the season defeating Four J’s 3-1. Ando is in dreamland as is our very own Victor Meldrew, Sandys gaffer Graeme Webster. His team clocked up their first league win with a 3-2 win over McAlpine. Cutty Sark remain unbeaten. A 3-1 win against Crescent Star in the Alex Smith sectional games and the question is who can stop the Cutty?

Doc Ferrys shared the points with FC Planet at Claypotts. Gordon Haxton of Docs was taken to hospital with a bad injury. We do not know the details but our best wishes go to Gordon for a speedy recovery.

Hello again morning people. It will be short report this week but again I am happy to say it was a full house again, well almost. Logie Club failed to field a team today against Angus Thistle and have informed me that they will be resigning from the Association. Logie have been struggling of late and it comes as no surprise.

I have again received many complaints about the state of the council pitches in particular the grass not being cut. I have complained to the parks dept until I am fuckin blue in the face with obviously no joy!! I will carry on with the complaints but short of cutting the grass myself, I am struggling.

The section games of the Alex Smith and Ross Kirk Trophies begin this week. Clubs please take note these games are played over 90 minutes until the sections are completed and then the semi finals are played on a knock out basis with extra time and penalties if required, and as they are cup ties it is SIGNED PLAYERS ONLY.

Hello again morning people. Another full house this week, all games played and it’s a case of so far so good. Cutty Sark continue to set the pace in the Strathmore Glazing Premier Division. Unbeaten and clear by three points, goals from from Grant Mcintyre(2), Nicky Deuchars and Steven Rice giving them a 4-0 win over Douglas Lads. It’s early days but I think they will take some stopping. Champions Douglas Athletic eventually saw off the challenge of Sandys at Lochee Park by the odd goal in nine to keep on the trail of Cutty. Goals from Danny “Hit Man” Moir(2), Arthur Innes Jnr, Russell “The Hedge” Headridge and an Own Goal gave the Blue Man U full points. Gaffer Jocky Stewart was not a happy man after the game as he laid into his team. “We were an absolute disgrace, and heads will roll . This will not be allowed to continue” by this time my answering machine was struggling to keep up with Jocky as he went on “I remember Jim Mclean fined his team for winning but not being entertaining, I feel like doing this to my team. I am absolutely furious” at this point the answering machine gave up. I would not like to be one of Jocky’s boys next time he meets up with them!

Sandys Graeme Webster was just as down as Jocky. “Another game we have played well and another one we have lost. I can’t believe it”. For the record Monday Ogbobe , Kevin Kelly, David Taylor and Brent Mitchell scored for Sandys. After listening to Jocky and Graeme I felt quite depressed and had to open a tin or two of Tennents!!! Bonargrove brushed aside Dundee Vics at Claypotts. Norrie Burns was on cloud nine as his beloved Bonar hit the Vics for TEN, yes ten!! A Craig Steven hat trick, doubles from Mark Middleton, Robbie Smith and Chico Lamont with Craig Scrimegour making it double figures. Bob Smith and his Dundee Vics have a lot of thinking to do!!!

Angus Thistle go through to the next round of the Scottish with a win over welfare side Ferraris. Four goals from Mark “Hirdy” Hird, Colin “Bomber “Lancaster, Eliott Tosh, Mark McGlaughlin Neil “Simmo” Simpson, Kevin Clancy and Tam Ballantine. The Jags into round two as are Lochee Central who beat Doc Ferrys 5-2.

Most things I write here I have said before, many many times before, so here I go again. If you are drawn in the Scottish against a fellow morning side, we will expect to see you kick off at 11.00am. Never mind what it says on the team lines, it is just bloody madness to have two morning teams kick off at 1 or 1.30pm. Now if you insist on kicking off in the afternoon , no one has the authority to stop you, but …I am afraid that you will be on your own as far as organising the game.

FREE WEEKS, remember only ask for one if it is absolutely needed. If you have to apply for one it must be lodged in writing at least fourteen days before the date you need free. This season teams not following procedure for a free week will be paying a visit to the executive committee.

Finally before I go, can I say that the latest instalment of the Morning A to Z will be held over for a week.

All the Best. Alex.

Winter came early today. It was bloody freezing, but as ever our lads turned out to do the business. I saw a few games at Fairmuir. Blackness and Angus Thistle battled the elements and each other before… yes you’ve guessed the Jags picked up the points with a last gasp winner. Tam Ballantine again the hero for the ‘Last Minute Jags‘ Dundee Social and Douglas Athletic produced a great game despite the conditions. I went up expecting a close game and so it was. The Social beat the Champions 3-2 thanks to the ‘Mighty Atom’ - Paul ‘Ando‘ Anderson hitting a hat-trick. Wee Ando could have had even more but a hat-tricks a hat-trick. Dougie Tosh in the Social goal had a great game and defied Douglas Athletic on more than one occasion. Cutty Sark go top thanks to a 4-1 win against Dundee Vics. Didn’t’ see too much of this game but Cutty looked comfortable. A Lee Hunt double paved the way for the new league leaders. As for the Vics, losing to teams like Cutty won’t hurt them. They now have to start picking up points against teams which will be around them in their area of the table.

A few words of warning to all teams, three to be precise - LATE KICK OFFS. You have been warned!!!!

Remember the monthly meeting. Monday 15th September. Be there or be fined. The Tayside cup AGM is on Wednesday 10th September in the Ellenbank Lounge at 7.00pm. All members clubs can if they wish attend this meeting. Please remember if you want the ‘Fast Sunday‘ free you must apply in writing before 21st September .

Can I take this opportunity to clarify that I am the match secretary until the end of this current season. This is in response to a letter received from Douglas Athletic, To whom It may concern!!!

This week sees the start of the annual shindig that is the Scottish cup. Well I think that is the case because I have had no notification about fixtures / dates or referees. I assume that the match secretary is the same, but then again maybe not!! I just love this competition and have been counting the days until the big kick off… no really.

I had a Ronnie Dittrich the other day (A Senior moment). I picked up a paper and they were tipping Scotland to qualify for the world cup finals. Fuck me I thought, have I really read that or am I going Ronnie Dittrich. But good old Scotland they never fail to deliver, what a pile of old shite that was in the back of beyond on Saturday. Give it up lads and go back to doing what you do best whatever the fuck that is!!!!!

That’s it for now, take care.
Alex.
