A full card and some great games, that's it, no stopping us now. Or is it? Will all clubs now take note that from here in to the end of the season NO applications for free weeks will be considered. I will clarify that by saying that any free weeks for the April Fast WILL BE accepted and that will be that!!! Clubs may find that on occasion they do not have a game, but that will be down to how the fixtures unfold between now until the end of May or beyond. Several clubs face serious fixture congestion and this is the only way to get through it.

One of the clubs with fixture problems Dundee Social turned in a brilliant performance against Forfar side Strathmore to win 4-3 and move into the last eight of the Tayside Cup. Three times a very good Strathmore side led and three times the Social pulled it back before winning it with a goal in the last minute of the game. Two goals from Jamesie McCord, Gavin McMillan and a rocket from Chris Gaffney which nearly took the net away won a great game between two fine sides.

Old rivals Harlequins and Douglas Athletic met at Monymusk and it was the Quins who edged it after extra time. Russell 'The Hedge' Headridge put Douglas in front but Harleys stormed back with goals from Neil Thomson and Martin Walker. A second from Headridge levelled before a dramatic winner from Michael Jorgenson. Parve Khan was generous in defeat 'Very disappointed but all the best to Harlequins. They played like they really wanted to win'.

Ferry Innter put Finavon out of the Tayside Cup by the odd goal in three. A goal in the last minute of extra time from Kevin Hogg booked a place in the quarter finals and sealed a brilliant show from Innter. Gaffer Noel Berrie was delighted 'A great team performance but Kevin Hogg was terrific also a special mention for Mikey Young and Keeper Ian Marshall who were excellent'.

Club 67 made their Tayside exit at the hands of Michelin. Goals from Scotty Brown, Kyle Cormack and James Tracey not enough as the Factory side edged it 4-3. Bonargrove hit five past Blackness to seal a place in the McGuire Trophy Semi Finals. Goal hero was Mark 'Sheva' Middleton who hit four, with Chico Lamont making it a nap hand.

Another high scoring game at Downfield saw Angus Thistle go down to Cutty Sark by the odd goal in nine in the Strathmore Glazing Premier Division. Simon Sturrock notched two and it could have been a hat trick as he missed from the spot. Kevin Clancy also bagged a double but the Jags went home empty handed.

In the Pilot Garage First Division Broadway were on the receiving end from Birkhill. A Daz Conway hat trick, Marco Perez (2) Ally Burdge (2) Keith Simpson and an own goal saw Birky collect full points. FC Planet kept their title hopes alive with a 3-1 home win over Doc Ferrys. Goals from Ricky Scott (2) and Steven Houston for the Lochee side, with Darren Elder on target for Docs.

That's it for now... take it easy, cheers, Alex.

DSMAFA - Latest News

Oh dear, Oh dear Oh Dear. Another day another full card wiped out!!! Yes we now have a wee problem, how the eff do we get the season finished before July? Answers on a postcard. The problem is made worse when yet again teams do not call in as to the status of their match. For example I now have to guess that the Tayport Scottish tie was off and will go ahead next week, if that’s not the case!!!!! As for the other non-callers, what if I only put fixtures in for them when I can be arsed!!! Sound stupid? Yes of course it effin is , but no more stupid than getting fined 10 quid for not making a thirty second phone call!!

It’s all a bit stop, start at the moment and until the weather eases up we are obviously going to struggle. I am struggling to remember a worse winter in my time; I must ask my mate Ronnie the Ref. He goes back many many many years, in fact I think he remembers when they had bit’s of rope for a cross bar. So its onwards we go and be assured the weather will get better, it’s just a case of waiting and hoping!!!

All the best and take care... Alex.

DSMAFA - Latest News

ello folks. Well we managed a complete card today; the first time since late November we have done that... good Times.

Harlequins and Bonargrove played out a 2-2 draw today, a result which means Bonar top section B of the Alex Smith Trophy, with Quins also qualifying for the semi finals in second spot. Both teams finished level on points and the head to head was also level, which means we go to goal difference where Bonar have the edge. Mark ‘Sheva’ Middleton and Nikita Donnachie on target for Bonar with Neil Thomson and Michael Jorgenson for Quins. Both sides will have to wait for their semi final opponents. Douglas Athletic have already qualified but any one of Dundee Social / Tayport or Michelin can still qualify.

In the Ross Kirk Trophy a point at home to Cobbies would have clinched a semi final spot for Birkhill. Cobbies however had not read the script and they notched up a 4-1 win. A win against AFC Kokomo in their last game will see the Fifers reach the last four and edge out Birky. On the scoresheet for Cobbies was ……and I quote straight from the answer machine, Beef (2), Billy Hunter and Chuck!!! Daz Conway notched a Birkhill consolation.

Dundee Social march on to the McGuire Trophy 3rd Round with a 4-2 win over Fintry Athletic. The Social built up a 4-0 lead thanks to Kevin Scott, Gavin McMillan with two long range rockets from Gogs McDonald and Kevin Robertson. It looked like Déjà vu from last week when Fintry pulled back a couple but there was to be no repeat and it’s the dark blues who are still in the cup. Sandys were left to reflect on missed chances as they went down 2-1 to Michelin. Big Webby’s team only had a Brent Mitchell goal to show for their efforts as they went out of the McGuire.

Douglas Athletic were back on Strathmore Glazing Premier Division duty against Cutty Sark. The Blue Man U hit seven past Cutty, a hat trick from Russell ‘The Hedge’ Headridge, two for Terry ‘Twelve Stone’ Malone with Terry ‘Smoothy’ Gray and an Abby Rafiq penalty completing another impressive days work from Parve Khan’s lads. Cutty tried hard enough but they were always up against it when they had their keeper sent off.

Pilot Garage First Division action saw a terrific 2-2 draw between Club 67 and Ferry Innter at Caird Park. Kevin McIntyre and George Murphy for the home side with Craig Wilkie and a Jordan Henderson penalty in reply for Innter. Doc Ferrys who have not had their troubles to seek lately were all smiles as goals from Darren Elder (2) Matty Adams (2) Paul McDade, Terry Melville and Gordon Smith got then back to winning ways against luckless Broadway. Blackness moved up to fourth in the division with a 6-0 home win against AFC Kokomo. On the scoreboard Chris ‘Smudger’ Adams, Chris Small, Ian Young (2) and David Fyffe (2).

And Finally… Club 67 and Cutty Sark have no game this week, quite simply because Tayport are involved in the Scottish and Blackness have asked for a free week. There is not much I can do about the Scottish but can I ask clubs once again to think twice before asking for a free week!!!!

The next round of the Tayside Sunday Cup is on 28th February.

All the best and take care… Alex.

DSMAFA - Latest News

Hello again, well let’s not mince words. A full card… thank Fuck!!!! Another blank day would have been real bad news, but the weather relented and let’s hope the dodgy stuff is behind us.

No doubting top game today. Old rivals Douglas Athletic and Dundee Social met in the Centre Cars League Cup and produced a cracker. The Social steamrollered Douglas in a brilliant first half and deservedly went off at half time 3-0 up. Don’t know what Parve Khan puts into his half time team talks but it produced an amazing comeback from the Blue Man U. A header from Terry ‘12 Stone’ Malone gave Douglas a bit of hope but the Social were defending really well. It took a brilliant strike from Dave ‘Honeybunny’ Honeyman going into the last 10 minutes to give Douglas real momentum and they threw everything at the Social. With just seconds left on the clock Keiron Rooney rose to power home a terrific equaliser and take the game to extra time. Both sides gave everything to win the game but it went into a penalty shoot out where Douglas keeper Graeme Finnan saved two Social penalties and Russell ‘The Hedge’ Headridge hit home the winning spot kick. Parve was as you can imagine delighted. ‘A magnificent game and both sides were a credit to the Morning League. My team were outplayed in the first half but their response to a few choice words at half time was brilliant, everyone played their part but Abby Rafiq was outstanding in the middle of the park’.

Club 67 shocked Harlequins in the Centre Cars League Cup. A brilliant 5-4 win giving the Club a place in the Semi Finals. Two goals from Kyle Cormack with singles from Ryan Rigden, James Tracey and Rory Crichton

Blackness and Birkhill set up a terrific McGuire Cup tie at Fairmuir. On the score sheet for the Blacky were Chris Small (2) and Wayne ‘No 10’ Lorimer as they edged out the village team who had Jim Bell and Kurt Head on target. Cobbies gave up home advantage in their tie with AFC Kokomo but they still produced the goods in a 6-0 win. Goals from John Boyle, Billy Hunter, Steven Grogan, Mike Smart and two own goals putting the Fifers into the last eight.

In the Strathmore Glazing Premier Division, Bonargrove and Cutty Sark produced a 5-5 share at Claypotts. A Mark ‘ Sheva ‘ Middleton double, David Hynd, Mustafa Al-Safar and Nicky Donachie all on the scoresheet for Bonar. Angus Thistle looked to have the points wrapped up when they led Sandys 3-0, thanks to goals from Kevin Clancy, Tam Ballantine and Colin Lancaster. With 30 minutes left on the clock the home side looked comfortable but it just wouldn’t be the Jags if it all ended tickety boo…..and it didn’t. Goals from John Foley (2) and George Sutherland giving Sandys an unlikely point, leaving both the Jags and Big Webby wondering what the hell happened there!!

Finally Ferry Innter hit the goal trail against Doc Ferrys. A first ever hat trick for Steven Burns who his gaffer Noel Berrie described as Dundee’s answer to Cain Dingle, Keiron McGrath also bagged a treble, Kevin Fitchet (2) Paul Burns, Kevin Hogg and Ian Marshall all on the scoreboard

That’s it for now, all the best... Alex.

DSMAFA Latest News

Hello folks. Well it is a short news page this week because after last weeks full card we were back to freezing conditions today. As you will see several clubs did not bother to call in and of course they will be fined. Had it not been for a combination of match referees and away clubs contacting me, I would have been guessing as to if games were on or off. Now I know conditions were bad but…if you are the home team then you MUST call in as to the status of the game. Everybody knows this and still clubs do not call in.

Amazingly we did get a game, Michelin and Club 67 went to extra time in the McGuire Trophy before the factory side edged it 2-1. Don’t know where they played it but, well done to all concerned. In the Scottish Cup Dundee Social went out in Livingston. Playing on a 3G artificial surface the Social were two up and looking very comfortable when an amazing turnaround saw local side Tower come back to win 3-2.

So to next week and again its fingers and everything else crossed that the weather relents and we get back playing. Quite simply it is a must, we are into February next Sunday and more postponements will put us right in the brown stuff, if we are not dipping our toe into it already!!!!

The next monthly meeting is on Monday 8th February in the usual venue. No excuses, your club must be represented.

That's it, all the best… Alex.

Latest News

At last, at effin last!!! We got back to playing. The conditions were a bit 'iffy' but at least we got some games played. That’s the good news…. Now the down side. Dundee Social missed out yet again, their Scottish tie was put off on Thursday…..Yes effin Thursday and apparently this is quite alright with the powers that be who run the competition. You couldn't make it up!!! Also on the downside, no result from Club 67 who have added another £10 to their phone fines. Continuing on the not so good, we had a no show from Doc Ferrys and it does not look too good for them. Finally wrapping up the bad news Tayport won their Scottish cup tie through in Edinburgh….Ooops sorry lads that should be in the good news, or should it!!!!! Another round of the national competition for the Fifers… 'Good Times'.

Sandys went out of the Scottish by the odd goal in seven against Saints Club. Big Webby was quite calm and laid back 'we were awful, as poor as we have played for a long time, we struggled Blah blah blah blah blah…' ZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Goalscorers for Sandys Kevin Kelly (2) and John Foley. No worries Webby, plenty of big games ahead.

Douglas Athletic qualified in their Alex Smith section with a 3-2 win over Michelin. Michelin dominated the first half and deservedly went off at half time 1-0 up. A few choice words were said at the interval and the Douglas lads responded big time. Terry Malone equalised and Russell 'The Hedge' Headridge notched a double his second after a great assist from Mark 'Bridget' Neilson It's a straight fight now between Michelin, Tayport and Dundee Social as to who joins the Blue Man U. The Social need one win from their last two games against …..Tayport and Michelin. The latter need to win their remaining games and hope for slip ups from their rivals.

Birkhill gave themselves a great chance to qualify from their Ross Kirk section. A terrific 4-1 win away to FC Planet means they need a point from their last game against Cobbies to top the section and join Blackness as qualifiers from the group. A Daz Conway hat-trick and a Steven Brown single capped a fine Birkie performance Fintry Athletic went top of the Pilot Garage First Division. Goals from John Foreman and Dean White sealed a good home win over Blackness.

Angus Thistle defeated Cutty Sark in the McGuire Trophy 9-7… yes you are seeing correctly 9-7. An amazing game saw both sides trade goals with Cutty leading 5-4 before the Jags came back to lead 9-5 further goals from Cutty saw it finish 9-7. Two goals each from Colin 'Bomber' Lancaster, Tam Ballantine, Kevin Clancy and Scotty Williamson with Bryan Brown completing the scoring for the Jags.

That's all for now folks… Cheers and take care, Alex.

Latest News

Hello again folks. C'mon lets hear it for Stevie Russell of Douglas Athletic. 'Tarzan' spent almost the whole day Saturday looking for a playable pitch to get his Tayside Cup tie against Cliffburn played and all his hard work paid off, not only did he find a park in Arbroath but the game went ahead and the Blue Man U chalked up a 16-0 win. That's the type of spirit we will require by everyone from now on in to get our season back on track. The next round of the Tayside Cup due on 24th January has been put back a couple of weeks, another casualty of the weather I'm afraid.

You will have noticed that the Dundee Tele had copy in regarding a monthly meeting due on Monday. The meeting was of course held last week and there definitely will not be a meeting this Monday. The next Monthly meeting is on Monday 8th February.

If the weather continues to improve, I fully expect to see some football this Sunday. We must however pull out all the stops and if that means moving parks at short notice, then so be it. It is the ONLY way we will pull this round and see the season finish on time.

Think very very carefully before asking for free weeks. Only ask if absolutely necessary and forget about asking for free dates towards the end of the season.

I have just presumed that the Scottish ties were off today. Sandys / Dundee Social did not let me know. C'mon lads you know the procedure, all local games were off on Friday, how am I meant to know what is happening out of town.

That's it for now, fingers crossed we will be back in action soon. Cheers... Don't know about you but this Global Warming has got me reaching for the sun tan oil…. NOT. What the eff is all that about? We are constantly being bombarded with warnings about global warming, we must do this, we must do that, we are all doomed if we do nothing. Well pardon me for being a wee bit cynical but what a load of shite!!! We were told in the summer by the 'experts' 'get the barbecues out it is going to be a long hot summer' what happens? It rains and then rains a bit more and then it bloody rains even more. Never mind though said the 'experts' it is going to be a really mild winter Oh and watch out for all those nasty flu virus because the mild weather will see a real flu epidemic hitting the population. The 'mild' weather saw the temperature hit minus ten in Dundee the other morning and about six inches of snow. If that's what the 'experts' call mild I wouldn't like to see what they call bloody freezing!!!! Where do they get these 'experts' from, and what is the point in them spouting the pish they do night after night ? I can't wait to hear what they have in store for us in the summer. As for Global warming, well who knows, I'm no expert but neither are the half wits who try to scare the shit out of us with tales of doom and gloom!!!!

Now I've got that lot off my chest, where was I? Oh yes so where does all that leave the Dundee Sunday Morning Amateur Football Association? Well we will try again with the same fixture card next week although you would have to ask the 'experts 'about the chances of any games going ahead. The Scottish ties have been postponed three times and I am assuming that they will now reverse with our teams travelling to Livingston, Perth and Edinburgh respectively. I am only assuming mind you because as ever with this competition it is a guessing game and it may well be a reversed reversal, reversed back after the reversal. Does that make sense? NO…well now you know how I feel!!! I keep getting asked how we will handle the backlog and get the games played, well until we actually start playing I cannot start to make any plans. As I have said before if we all pull together and use a bit common sense then we will get there, as we usually do.

Just been watching the ActiveNation Scottish Cup draw, what is this ActiveNation all about, what does it mean? Are they trying to say we are all lazy slobs? Anyway it might have a new name but some things never change. Yes the 'hot' ball and the 'cold' ball managed to avoid getting drawn together and if I had a spare 5p (which I don't) I would put it on the two balls meeting sometime in May at a venue somewhere in the West of Scotland. A venue I have visited many, many times over the years and came back a bitter, twisted and miserable man, usually at the hands of the 'hot' or 'cold' ball. Wait a minute though, with this global warming thing being all the rage maybe my own team should speak to one of the 'experts' who know all there is to know about the hot and cold... just a thought!!!

Latest News

Hello folks and a Happy New Year. Well we are still ploughing through the white stuff and looking at the long term weather forecast we will be in the brown stuff pretty soon as far as the fixture backlog goes. It’s a case of wait and see, fingers crossed and anything else you can cross that the temperatures rise, the snow goes and we can get back playing. The first fixtures of the New Year are a repeat of the last ones in the old year, already it looks grim with the weather for this Sunday, but as I have said we will just have to wait and see. It goes without saying of course that even a slim chance of a game going ahead should be grabbed and everything done to get games on. Think about it this way. In 12 weeks time the first midweek games will be going ahead!!!

Well that is if the snow has cleared up by then. Think about this as well, one of the coldest winters on record was 1963, yep a long time ago but that particular year the cold snap gripped the country for 11 long weeks. That just does not bear thinking about.

Another wee reminder, if you needed one of course that the first monthly meeting of the new year is on Monday 11th January at the usual venue. Meeting starts at 7.30pm. So what’s in store for Morning football people in the New Year? Well the obvious one of course is quite simple …..to finish the current season, hopefully sometime before July!!! I would also hope that some of our players get a grip and show a bit of respect to referees. I know that frustrations can boil over at times, but the refs are just like the players, committee and officials… we all make mistakes!!! I watched a game a while back and I could not believe what I witnessed. The game was nothing special and was tied at 1-1 with ten minutes left, just as I was thinking of leaving, a long ball was played through which the defender had time to take not just one touch but any amount he wanted. What did he do? Well instead of taking a touch and clearing the ball he took a fresh air swing, missed the ball completely and in doing so laid it on a plate for the in coming striker to crack into the net. Now if that was me I would have put my hands up and said sorry to my team mates for making an arse of it….Not our man, no no effin chance!!! He started screaming at the referee that the goal was offside and that he was a cheatin effin this and that, well you can picture the scene. Two things came to mind that day. What an effin embarresment that was and why the f.@*k do I bother. So come on lads the day you are perfection that’s the day you might have a case. Until then gie it a break!!!!!!

Now as you all know we of Tannadice have lost our manager. If he had went to a good job in England then you wish him all the best, but he has moved to the worst football job in Scotland. A team full of players with ego’s the size of Ben Nevis and as much ability as the display in Burton’s window. Oh dear. Oh dear, Oh dear and what of the football fraternity in Scotland? Anyone who thought they were anybody threw their tuppence worth in ‘yes he is the man for the job’ they said. Bloody right he was …for them!!!! Never mind the terrific job he was doing at our club. ‘Get him out of the way they will soon be back in the shit’ that was what they were thinking but not saying! OK call me bitter, call me an old cynic, but am I right?????

That's it for now... Cheers Alex.

Latest News

Hello folks I hope you are well, if not a bit cold. Yet another freezing weekend put paid to week 18 of season 2009 / 2010. No more games now until Sunday 10th January 2010 when weather permitting we start playing again. There will of course be the inevitable backlog of games but we will as we always do work together to turn this round , but I stress we do need everyone , teams , committee and officials to pull together in order to achieve our aim.

I will at some point update the news page during our festive break, and of course the first fixture card of the New Year will be posted as well.

All that’s really left to say now is …. To all who read these pages and participate in Morning football have a very Happy Christmas and a Peaceful, Healthy New Year.

God Bless and take care... Well the frozen conditions certainly won the day today, all local games off and only the Cutty Sark Scottish game played out of town. Cutty went out, so that just leaves three….. the best of luck lads, you will probably need it just to get the games played. Never mind anything else!!

The fixture card for week 18, which is Sunday 20th December will be the last games until Sunday 10th January 2010. It is just a case of hoping the weather allows us to put together a few weeks without any postponements as we head into the new year.

As you now know I eventually managed to draw up a fixture list for week 17 but the fact that I had to wait until Monday to do it caused me to miss the monthly meeting, something I do not like doing, but it had to be done because I was not available on the Tuesday to finalise fixtures, pitches, refs or the Tele Friday news page and with Wednesday being the cut off for everything there was not much room for manoeuvre.

Oh and by the way I hear there were a few of the teams missing on Monday. Why was that lads? The dates for the meetings throughout the year are issued at the start of the season. They are in the Association hand book, they are on the League Web Site, they are posted with the fixtures in Thursday’s Tele and also in the Friday Tele as well with the Morning news. Anyway here are a few dates for your diary. Scottish Sunday Cup 5th round 10th January 2010 / Tayside Sunday Amateur Cup 3rd round 24th January 2010 / and all teams please note the next Monthly meeting is on...Monday 11th January 2010.

Can I also say that even at this stage of the season all our cup finals will be in the month of May 2010. The particular date for each final will be announced nearer the time but if you are thinking of asking for a free date in May... Please think again!!!!

That's it for this week lads, I will catch up with you again next week. All the best and take care. Alex.

Latest News

Well what an absolute bloody shambles this week. Another fixture list re-hashed in midweek, four walkovers in the Tayside cup and yet another result not phoned in. I have been informed that the next round of the Scottish is due next week, but I do not have a list of the ties. The outcome of all this is that I am holding off posting a fixture card on the web site this week until I am satisfied that I will not have to spend time doing it all over again. The words ‘pissed right off ‘just about sum it up!!!! For the past few weeks I have as usual spent a lot of time on Sunday nights pulling together a fixture list for the following week as well as results, news page etc only to have to go back to the drawing board a couple of days later to revise the fixtures. Now after Sunday I have Referees and Pitches to allocate on Monday. Tuesday sees the column for the Tele drafted up and after that… well believe it or not I do have a life away from this. Well F..k that, it will be multiple fixture lists soon enough when the midweek games start without having to do it now. Apologies for the rant lads but I am seriously fed up getting messed about.

The story of the games that did go ahead saw Fintry Athletic notch up a terrific away win over the Forfar League Leaders Abbey Athletic. Goals from Jamie Bell and Deano White booking a place in round three. Club 67 found Broadway in generous mood, helping themselves to a sackful of goals. George Murphy (5) Lee Rolaveldt (4) James Tracey (4) Ryan Rigden, Stu Brown, Ken McIntyre and Ricky Shaw all on target for the Club.

Ferry Innter and Angus Thistle went to extra time before the Ferry lad won 5-1. it was 1-1 at 90 minutes but the Jags hopes went bye bye when they had three players sent off. Sean Tucker hit four for Innter with Chris Reilly also on target, while Tam Ballantine was on target for the Jags. Sandys never really hit top form but still won 4-1 away to Abbotsford. Two from Ewen Grant, George Sutherland and an own goal for Big Webby’s side.

Lochee Central won the derby against Lochee Planet coming from behind to win 2-1. Billy Carlin’s side showed tremendous spirit to bounce back after going a goal down. Sean Johnstone equalised before Ryan Balfour grabbed the winner midway through the second half.

Cutty Sark eventually managed to play their Scottish tie in Glenrothes and came back with an 8-2 win. Five goals from Lee Hunt, Ashley Jackson, Errol Johnstone, and Wayne Reilly also hitting the net.

Blackness played Doc Ferrys in a Pilot Garage First Division game and clocked up a vital three points to go fourth in the table. Goals from Chris Small, Neil ‘Hit Man’ Harvey, Wayne ‘No 10’ Lorimer, Craig Miller and another hat trick from Scotty McLeod capped a fine Blackness performance.

That’s it for now, take care... Alex.

Latest News

Hello Again. Well we managed to get back into action this week thank goodness. Not for the first time this season I had to alter a prepared fixture list because of the Scottish Cup. That bloody competition gives me more headaches than any other and I think that is all I will say for now because I need room on this page to report on some of today's games.

Anyway where was I, oh yes today's games. Let's start off with the Sc...tish!!! Big Webby called in with his report on a brilliant away win for Sandys (His words not mine) 4-0 up at half time thanks to an OG, Kevin Kelly (2) and John Foley. George Sutherland added a fifth to seal a 5-2 win and Big Webby was beside himself. Good Times Webby, oh by the way the next round is on 13th December, the good times just keep coming!!!!

Had a call from Mr Vials with his result. A 9-0 win for the Social, now you would think even the hard to please Kevin would be happy with that… no not a bit, he moaned about the weather, the conditions, the colour of the grass, the opposition, he even made a cheeky remark about the mighty men from Tannadice (I'm sure he didn't mean that) Anyway Kevin. That's you into the next round of the Scottish and as I have said before the good times just keep on coming!!!!

Douglas Athletic turned in a terrific display to see off Tayport and took another step towards qualifying from their Alex Smith Section. Parve Khan was a happy man as his strikers grabbed a couple each. Terry Malone and Ian Fleming proved to be real handful for the Fifers as the Blue Man U won 4-2.

Blackness notched up a brilliant 5-2 win over FC Planet to give themselves a great chance of reaching the last four in the Ross Kirk Trophy. A magnificent four goal haul from Scotty McLeod including a 'perfect hat trick', Paul 'Flash' Gordon made it a nap hand. An inspirational show from Danny 'Bush' Deacon for the Blacky.

Ferry Innter have one foot in the Ross Kirk Semi's after a great 4-3 win over Club 67. Innter had to survive a late come back after taking a 4-1 lead. Goals from Kevin Fitchet, Shaun Tucker (2) and Craig Wilkie sealing a fine win. Doc Ferrys edged out AFC Kokomo by the odd goal in five at Dawson Park. Two goals from Paul Duncan and a Scott 'Soapy' Soutar counter as Docs picked up three Pilot Garage First Division points.

Birkhill put up a brave show against Michelin before going out of the Centre Cars League Cup by the odd goal in seven. On target for Birkie were Marc Brownlie, Stevie Brown and a goal from my good mate Jimmy Bell. As well as being a good friend who I have known for many many years Jimmy is one of the best strikers ever to play not just Morning football but Amateur football full stop. He is still fit as a fiddle and scoring goals... Oh and Happy Birthday Jim. I won't say how old you are but glad to see you hit the 'Bullseye'!!!

Lochee Central showed no mercy to a struggling Angus Thistle side in the Strathmore Glazing Premier Division. Ryan Balfour hit four goals, including a hat trick in twenty minutes, Steve Martin (2) and Gordon Connelly completed the scoring. Mark Hird and Colin 'Bomber' Lancaster grabbed a couple of consolation goals for the Jags.

That's it for now… Take Care, Alex.

Latest News

Hello folks, hope you are well if not a bit wet. Well the weather won this week with only the Tayport v Edinburgh Ansor game going ahead. The Fifers won 6-2, and will have to go through this all over again… Oh Yes, Good Times!!!!

No phone call from Sandys, so I will just have to presume the game was off and they will be fined as per constitution. I won’t go on about how you must phone if you are home or away in the Scottish because you have heard it all before and still some can’t be arsed to call in. So a fine it is and a complete waste of money, all for the sake of a 30 second phone call. Birkhill will also be fined. They were due to play a league game but they also play on a park outwith the city so they must call in when their pitch is off. Alas no call was received and it will be a fine for them also.

Harlequins were very confident that they would be playing their Scottish tie this week, very straight forward it was, the verdict on their opponents tie in the previous round just had to be rubber stamped and away we go……Come on ‘You Cannot be Serious’ This is the lovely Scottish people you are dealing with, and so it came to pass that their potential opponents game has been recast on another date……Oh Yes, Good Times!!!

So there is not much to be reporting this week due to a lack of amateur football…….But Wait, what about a magnificent win for the mighty men of Tannadice over the green team. Oh Yes…………..Really Really Good Times from a Really Really Good team!!! Are you watching King of the hair dye Lord Ronnie Dittrich? Your boys will be next as the Terrors march on this season. This is our time, just as long as we keep our manager. (Why anyone would want the National Team job amazes me anyway)

Don’t know about you but I am getting a tad pissed off with Strictly X I’m a Celebrity Factor. If I ever hear ‘Amazing Journey’ ‘It’s my Dream’ ‘I don’t want to go I’m having an amazing time’ or the excruciating ‘I want this so bad’ AAAAaaaargh!!! Stop Please Stop. In one programme they dance out of time, In another they sing (did I really say sing ?) out of tune and in the jungle they crave attention so much that they will do almost anything. No I take that back ….They will do ANYTHING and we sit and watch this, me Included. How sad is that? Well as soon as all these programmes are finished and I have finished voting, that’s it….. I am going to get therapy, some of Lord Ronnie’s hair dye and start having a life again.

And so to next week, fingers crossed we get back to playing, if we don’t with the Tayside Cup due on the 6th December then there could be problems ahead.

That’s It for now... Cheers, Alex.

Latest News

Hello folks, hope you are well. It was almost but not quite this week as all games went ahead apart from Bayview V Harlequins. Bayview yet again could not field a team and I am afraid it looks like the end of the road for them.

The long awaited Tayside cup tie between Moncrieffe and Birkhill at last went ahead. Birkie made no mistake winning 7-0 with goals from Daz Melville (2) Mark Brownlie, Keith Simpson, Steve Brown, Kurt Herd and Richard Parker.

Two of the Scottish ties were brought forward this week and Bonargrove must be wishing they had not as they went out to Lochgreen losing 8-1. Douglas Athletic also went out on a 1-2 scoreline to The Jolly. Not very jolly for the Blue Man U as they lost a game which they dominated but just could not convert the chances they created. A Russell Headridge goal was all they had to show in a frustrating 90 minutes. The remaining ties go ahead this week apart from the Dundee Social v Grove which will be on the 29th November. The best of luck to all the teams in the Scottish… no seriously, you will need it. Hopefully all these ties will be completed before January. Ferry Innter kept their hopes alive in the Ross Kirk Trophy with a tight derby win over Doc Ferrys. Innter thanks to goals from Sean Tucker (2) and Craig Wilkie looked comfortable but not for the first time this season Docs came storming back with Steve McKinnon and Gordon Smith reducing the deficit. It looked like a tied game when Docs grabbed a third but referee Ron Dittrich chalked it off. Ronnie won’t be getting any drinks bought for him in the Ferry then - that will mean a drink free zone for Ronnie because he does not buy any himself!!!

Cutty Sark needed a win in their Alex Smith Trophy game with Angus Thistle and they made no mistake. The Jags made a game of it though and it took a late goal from Cutty to finish off the Jags. Bobby Scott (2) Lee Hunt and Robert Coleman (Apologies if the surname is wrong here, the answer machine was playing up) a Mark Hird goal and a Colin ‘Bomber’ Lancaster penalty for Thistle.

Sandys and Tayport produced a brilliant game at Lochee Park with the Fifers coming up with late goals to clinch the points and all but end Sandys hopes in the Alex Smith Trophy. Two goals from Kevin Kelly and a single from George Sutherland against his former club were not enough for Graeme Websters side who will feel they this was a game they should have won.

In the Pilot Garage First Division, what a game at Caird Park between Club 67 and FC Planet! Club 67 went one down and had a player sent off for hand ball on the goaline. Planet went two up and when the Club had another player sent off it looked all over, but in an amazing come back the Club 67 stormed back to win 3-2. Goals from George Murphy and Lee…. Yes I would like to tell you the lads surname but I could not make out the message on the answer machine. Anyway a terrific double from Lee!! Cobbies and Broadway shared four goals and the points in Fife. Highlight for a much improved Broadway was a magnificent diving header from Craig Nicol.

All the best and take care... Alex.

Latest News

Hello Morning people. It looked for all the world on Friday that it would be a wipeout, but once again the Morning people pulled out the stops and we got a full card played. Well that is for a Tayside cup tie in Perth which was off again. Pity more effort was not put into getting that game played. After the Perth pitch was put off Birkhill asked their opponents to play the tie in Dundee, but got zero response. A real shame because that is yet another blank Sunday for the Birkie who I know are desperate to get this game played.

I had a phone call from one of our refs on Saturday night asking if his game was still on, because he had not received a call from the teams. Are you that team? Well I know who you are and we will be seeing you at next week’s executive meeting. I am fed up telling teams to confirm games with their match official. It is vital, especially on weekends like the one just past that there is no breakdown in the line of communication between teams and ref. To put it simply PHONE THE BLOODY REF!!!

"A brilliant game between two good sides" That was the verdict on the Dundee Social v Douglas Athletic game at Dawson Park, not from either of the teams but from match official Mike Roncone. A game of two halves, with the Social taking first half honours and Douglas the second 45. Goals from Jamesie "Fabregas" McCord and a brilliant free kick from Gogs McDonald for Dundee Social while Russell "The Hedge" Headridge produced a magnificent solo goal and Paul "Bend It Like" Dolan converted a penalty for the Blue Man U. Both sides agreed a draw was about right in what will be the first of a few games between these old rivals this season.

Lochee Central kept their hopes alive in the Alex Smith Trophy with a 3-2 derby win over Sandys. A double from Gordon Donnelly and a Cameron Lamb counter gave Billy Carlins team three points. Andrew Heggie and Ewen Grant on target for Sandys. Goals from Mark "Sheva" Middleton and Rada Al-Nadaf gave Bonargove a share in their Strathmore Glazing Premier Division game with Michelin. In their Ross Kirk Trophy Section Fintry Athletic looked comfortable against Doc Ferrys when they went four ahead but Docs never gave up and a double from Scott "Soapy" Soutar produced a great a comeback. They fell short at the end but great credit for a gritty performance.

In the Centre Cars League Cup Angus Thistle looked more like themselves after a few poor performances of late. It was not enough however as a Brian Brown goal was not enough to see off Harlequins who needed a late penalty to see off the Jags. Cutty Sark put out a struggling Bayview team, goals from Bobby Scott (3) Errol Johnstone, Lee Hunt, Paul Reid and Terry Connell. What about it for the brilliant Tam "The Cat" Dolan who at the tender age of 103 put in a great show between the sticks.

The Pilot Garage First Division saw some great action. Club 67 edged out Cobbies by the odd goal in seven. On the scoresheet for the Club Ryan Rigden, George Murphy, Danny Rice, and Ricky Neil. They are joint top with FC Planet who by their own admission were fortunate to beat Ferry Innter. A 6-5 win for Ronnie Halliburton’s team. Steven Houston (2), Michael Bannon, Craig Burns, Graham "Micky" McPherson and Ryan "Fyfee" Fyffe all hitting the net.

That's it for now folks... cheers, Alex.

Latest News

Well would you believe it……NO I couldn’t either. AFC Kokomo not only phoned in their result but…..wait for it they notched up their first ever win in Morning football. A 1-0 win over Cobbies at Lochee Park did the trick. What’s that ..who scored, what kind of game was it ? Come on you must be joking, lets get them to phone results in every game that would be a start!!!! Anyway lads, joking aside, very well done and lets hope it’s the first of many… phone calls that is!!!!!

Douglas Athletic played their delayed Tayside cup game against Dalhousie and the Blue Man U made no mistake with a 5-0 win. Two brilliant early strikes from Paul ‘Bend It Like’ Dolan paved the way. He went on to complete a memorable hat trick with a great free kick. Russell ‘The Hedge’ Headridge completed the nap hand with a second half double.

The Centre Cars League Cup saw wins for Bayview who edged out Blackness. Harlequins went to penalties against Bonargrove and the Quins eventually held their nerve to win the shoot out 8-7. On the Scoresheet for Bonar were Kenny Dunn, Gary Markie and Davie Hynds. Tayport moved into round two with a 3-1 win at home against FC Planet while Lochee Central won a seven goal cracker against Fintry Athletic at South Road. Goals from Cameron Lamb ( 2 ), Sean Johnston and a winner from Chas Lynch with just two minutes left on the clock. A brilliant show from Billy Carlin’s lads.

Club 67 moved into round three with goals from Kyle Cormack, Ricky Shaw, Kevin McIntyre and James Tracey enough to put Ferry Innter out of the competition. On league business Cutty Sark picked up three much needed points in their defence of the Strathmore Glazing Premier Division title with a 2-1 win over Michelin. Bobby Scott and Errol Johnstone on the Cutty scoresheet.

Dundee Social led Angus Thistle 1-0 at half time and a tight game looked on the cards but a second half blitz from Social put paid to that. A hat trick from Kevin Scott, all in the space of five minutes, a double for Mark Paton and singles from Keith McKenzie, Neil Bone, Kevin Robertson and Ross Noble had the gaffer a happy man. In The Pilot Garage First Division Birkhill gave up home advantage after their pitch was waterlogged and moved their game against Doc Ferrys to Dawson Park. The Birkie lads produced a great ninety minutes. Four goals from Darren Conway, doubles from Marc Brownlie, Steven Douglas with Kurt Head, Mark Stuart, Sean Menzies and Marco Perez capping a brilliant display.

Just a another wee reminder lads if you needed it, it is now officially winter and with it the problems the weather brings. We must make every effort to get games played. We managed it last season and as we progress into the winter months the same efforts will be needed.

That’s it for now... Cheers, Alex.

Latest DSMAFA News

Hello again lads and lasses. Well a new week, a new day but alas same old, same old. AFC Kokomo did not phone in AGAIN, oh well Mondays Executive meeting should be interesting and again I have to report that a Tayside cup tie did not go ahead….the reason being a no show from the referee. A poor show but as ever until I get the full story I will keep things quiet. I am still waiting on a response from the Referee’s Association regarding a couple of no shows on 4th October, I will keep you posted.

Holders of the Tayside Sunday Amateur Cup, Cutty Sark are out. They fell at the first hurdle this season. In a repeat of last years Final against Tayport it was the Fifers who were celebrating. Star man was Steven Smith who hit all five goals in a 5-1 win. Angus Thistle at last reported a win after a few dismal weeks. The Jags were 4-0 up at half time against Cobbies thanks to goals from Kevin Clancy (2) and Brian Brown (2) but the Fifers hit back with two early second half goals. It was the Jags day however as they held on to move into round 2 of the Tayside Cup. Doc Ferrys put up a great show before late goals for Annfield Road broke their resistance. On target for a good Docs side were Scott ‘Soapy’ Soutar (2), Dale Kerr and Steve McKenna.

A Jamie Bell double set Fintry Athletic up for victory against Whitfield at Fintry Park. Fintry reached the Semi Finals of the Regional competition last year, can they go one step better?

Sandys put out Poleteam in Perth with an emphatic 6-1 win. A Brent Mitchell double with singles from John Foley, Ewen Grant, Neil Halliburton and Steven Boyce. FC Planet made no mistake at home to Badgers Bar. A Steven Houston hat trick, a Craig Burns brace and a Mikey Lamb counter setting up a 6-2 win over the Perth team. Bayview were 2-0 up with 15 minutes to go against Harlequins in the Tayside Cup and looking good for round two but an amazing comeback from Quins took the game into extra time where the eventually saw off a brave Bayview side. Two goals from Neil Thomson, John McIntosh, Martin Walker and Michael Jorgenson as Quins moved into the second round.

Club 67 hit five without reply against Blackness. A James Tracey hat trick, Ryan Rigden and Jorey Kinney for a good Club side. Who had star men in Kyle Cormack and Kevin McIntyre.

Dundee Social hit an amazing seventeen goals in Perth against Mondo. Highlight was a 50 yard rocket from Jamesie McCord ‘ The best goal I have ever seen ‘ commented Social gaffer Kevin Vials as he watched his side stroll into the next round. On domestic duty Ferry Innter picked up much needed Pilot Garage First Division points in their win against Broadway Stars. Two goals each for Craig Wilkie, Kevin Fitchet, Jamie Wilkie with Ian Maxwell and Kevin Hogg clinching an Innter win.

That’s it for now... Cheers Alex.

Latest News

Hello again folks. Well another mixed bag today which leaves me shaking my head in disbelief. First off, AFC Kokomo and Broadway Stars will be fined as per constitution for not phoning in results and then amid some disgraceful scenes at South Road the FC Planet v Dundee Social game is abandoned. I will not make any comment on the abandoned game because it will be dealt with by the Scottish. I was not present to witness the goings on myself but everyone present saw what happened and from the reports I have heard, the Scottish will take a dim view of the proceedings. In round two of the Scottish, a goal from Ian ‘Bond’ Fleming gave Douglas Athletic a 1-0 win in Perth against Poleteam.

Cutty Sark went through after beating Annfield 5-4. Goals from Robbie McAlpine, Paul Johnstone, Lee Hunt, Terry Conner and James Deasley. Sandys hit Stobswell for eleven as they progressed to round three. A nap hand from Ewen Grant, another hat trick for George Murphy, his second in a week, David McDonald, John Foley and a rare goal from Chris Waddle.

Angus Thistle are battling to overcome a form slump at the moment. The Jags went down 3-1 to Cobbies over in Fife. A Mark Hird goal was all they had to show from an encouraging display especially in a good first half against the Fifers. Bonargrove won the all Morning clash against Lochee Central. A double from Davie Hynd with singles from Tommy King, Rad Al-Nadaf and Mark Middleton. Another all Morning game saw Harlequins hit six past Bayview. A Neil Thomson hat trick, Chris Taylor, Martin Walker and Calum Donnachie. A twist of fate sees Bonargrove meet Lochee Central again this week in the Strathmore Glazing Premier Division while Bayview will play host to Harlequins in the Tayside Cup. Both games at South Road.

In the Ross Kirk Trophy Goals for Stevie Brown and a magnificent volley from Gavin Forrester gave Birkhill a 2-2 draw with Blackness. The Birky lads feel they should have won this after missing a host of chances.

Club 67 lost out to Fintry in their Ross Kirk Section. A double from Ryan Rigden and a George Murphy single not enough to take anything from the game, going down 7-3.

Finally, I was speaking to my very old mate Ronnie Dittrich, he of the funny coloured hair. (Very Strange) Anyway Ronnie is a big supporter of the Blue team and he was blethering a right load of pish about the Blue team and the Green team moving to England. ‘We are as big as them, we could win it in a few years’ and other assorted bollocks. I read Bill Leckie in the Sun saying that if they wanted to go he would put them on a bus and drive them there himself. Well count me in as the bus conductor. What a result if they went, it would be brilliant to see them go. If Scottish football cannot survive without those two then what a sad state we are in. The rest of Scottish football should stand up and be counted. They don’t want to be here so encourage them to go, help them pack their cases. Once they are gone that’s it, no reserve teams playing in the SPL, no looking back. Bye Bye all the best and we move on. C’mon you know it makes sense for them and the rest of Scottish football.

That’s it then, all the best ……Alex

Latest News

Hello again folks. Well it was the local holiday weekend in Dundee and a couple of referees took it upon themselves to take a holiday. Nothing wrong with that …but they did not bother to tell me!!! Now just like clubs who fail to appear we will wait to hear why this happened. The games in question were Bayview v Michelin and Club 67 v Doc Ferrys. The Bayview game was put off while the Club 67 game went ahead with another ref. I will once again remind all clubs that they MUST phone their match referees to confirm their game. If you do not and the ref fails to appear then consider yourself 50% responsible. As I have said I do not know why these referees failed to appear, but they did not call off to me and until I find out the reason this is the last that will be said on this subject.

The games that did go ahead saw some great action. Harlequins take top billing today with their 3-2 win over Champions Cutty Sark. Goals from Michael ‘Rooney’ Jorgenson. Chris ‘Meatpaste’ Taylor and Martin ‘Spewy’ Flynn. A brilliant performance from the Quins but what is it with those nicknames? Very Strange!!!! Bonargrove showed no mercy to struggling Angus Thistle at Claypotts. A 9-2 win with a Craig Stevens hat trick, Chico Lamont (2) Mark ‘Sheva’ Middleton, Robbie Smith, Lee Cochrane and Mustafa Al-Safar putting Bonar in a good position in Alex Smith Trophy Section (B).

Sandys got back to winning ways and big Webby is on top of the world. A George Sutherland hat trick had Webby drooling and left Douglas Athletic to reflect on the many chances they missed. Goals from Asi Rafiq and Terry Malone for Blue Man U but Parve Khan was not a happy man after the game. Club 67 and Doc Ferrys produced 13 goals at Caird Park with the Club winning 9-4. Three goals each for Ryan Rigden and Graeme ‘Hoppy’ Christie with James Tracey, Brian Young and George Murphy making a nifty nine. Matty Adams, Dale Kerr and two goal Scott ‘Soapy’ Souter on target for Docs.

Fintry Athletic maintained their 100% record in the Pilot Garage First Division with a fine win over Cobbies. Goals from Jamie Bell (2) Bobby Buchan (2) and Alex Martin as Fintry go joint top with FC Planet and Club 67.

That’s it for now, another eventful day in the world of Morning football……but wait it’s the Scottish next week Agh….hold on to your hats and anything else you are close to because anything that can happen usually does and this is only round two ….it’s all in next round look out those maps and book your bus for a trip to anywhere………good times. Yeh really, no honestly.

All the best and take care... Alex.

Latest News

Hello folks, I hope you are well. The Alex Smith and Ross Kirk Trophies kicked off today and there will be a slight change to the competition rules. As ever the sections are based on a league basis, with games over 90 minutes. The winners of sections A will play the runners up in sections B and vice versa with the winners of section B playing the runners up in section A in knock out semi finals played to a finish. If clubs are level on points in the sections they will be separated based on the head to head results. If the head to head results produce a draw then we go to goal difference, if that is level the team who have scored the most goals will get the nod. If everything is level and we are unable to separate the teams a play off will go ahead.

A great game at South Road saw Douglas Athletic take the points from Lochee Central in Alex Smith(A). An own goal from Dale McIntosh gave Lochee Central the lead but he made up for his mistake by grabbing the equaliser for the Blue Man U. Davie Honeyman broke Lochee hearts with a second half winner for Douglas. The Douglas lads were full of praise for the Lochee side. Manager Parv Khan commented ‘ Lochee dominated the first half and a draw would have been a fair result. They are a really good side who will cause problems to a lot of sides this season.

Sandys were given a real going over from Dundee Social at Lochee Park. A 9-1 scoreline and even big Webby was lost for words!! Angus Thistle were 2-0 up at half time against Harlequins thanks to goals from Mark Hird and Tam Ballantine but a strong wind and a much better Harlequins side in the second half blew them away. A 4-2 win for the Quins and its back to the drawing board for the Jags!!

Doc Ferrys picked up full points against Broadway Stars in the Ross Kirk Section(A). A hat trick for Darren Elder, a double for veteran Gordon Smith, singles from Scott ‘ Soapy ‘ Souter and Paul ‘PJ’ McDade. A five star show from midfielder Gareth Aird who was terrific.

FC Planet are in great form just now and they produced a brilliant five goal win over the water against Cobbies. A double each for Steven Houston and Ricky Scott with Craig Burns making it a nap hand. Blackness produced a hatful of goals to see off AFC Kokomo who to their credit although well beaten kept going right to the end. Neil ‘ The Hit Man ‘ Harvey and Chris Small grabbed hat tricks, Wayne ‘ No 10 ‘ Lorimer and ‘ Viduka ‘ Moffat both notched doubles.

It's a busy few weeks coming up with Scottish and Tayside cup ties on the 11th and 18th October throw in our own domestic cup ties and it will be a jam packed month for cup ties.

That's it for now; all the best and take care…..Alex.

Lastest News

Hello again, well a full house this week and did we need it!! Let’s hope it’s a sign of things to come. Club 67 sit proudly at the top of the Pilot Garage First Division. A terrific 3-2 away win against Cobbies with goals from James’Bubble’Tracey, John Thomson, and George Murphy. A man of the match show from Scott Drum. Joining the them at the top are FC Planet who have made a great start to the season. A 6-2 win at Claypotts saw off Doc Ferrys. On target for the South Road side, Steven Houston (2), Mikey Bannen, Andy Low (pen), Craig Burns, and Ryan Fyffe.

In the Strathmore Glazing Premier Division the Champions Cutty Sark maintained their unbeaten start to the season. Goals from Tam Darling (2) and Lee Hunt were enough to get past Bayview at Finlathen.

It’s smiles all round for big Webby and his Sandys team, they won the Lochee derby against Lochee Central 3-1. A fine game saw goals from Davie McDonald (2) and John Foley clinch the points, with Andrew Heggie and Kevin Johnson in fine form for the winners.

Bonargrove and Dundee Social made it through to round two in the Scottish… deep Joy!!!! Bonar hit nine past Olde Mill, with Craig Stevens, Mark’Sheva’Middleton, Davie Hynds, Robbie Smith (2), Rada Al-Nadaf (2) and Kenny Dunn (2) all finding the net. The Social beat fellow morning side Blackness thanks to goals from Steven Gracie (2) Jamesie McCord and Gavin Blues.

Just a reminder that the next monthly meeting is next Monday 21st September. As ever all clubs must be represented. If you are not there, you will be fined!!!

I hope you have all got over the shock of Scotland failing to beat those bloody no-hopers Holland last week ?......Honestly the Dutch are ranked third in the world, we are no where and couldnae hit a cows arse wi a banjo and still everyone is shocked that we did not win. Now they want to bin the manager and bring in …….sorry I can’t bear to say their names, lets just say one’s a former manager of the Blue team and one’s a former manager of the Green team. We’ll if that’s a good move I am a bloody millionaire babe magnet!!!! Come on lets get real, leave the manager in place for the next Euro’s and if we get there ….Great. If we don’t qualify the manager will go himself.

The nights are starting to draw in and that means the X Factor, frozen pitches, Strictly Come Dancing, waterlogged pitches, the X Factor, postponed Scottish games, the X Factor and more postponed Scottish games, even more postponed Scottish games. Do you see the common them? Yes its loads of out of tune singing on a Saturday night….NO no sorry just a wee reminder this early in the season that we will be hit with many postponed pitches and EVERYONE must do everything they can to get games played.

All the best and take care... Alex.

Latest News

Well what a week!!! It started bad and got effin worse as the days went on. As you will have noticed I had to scrap a whole fixture card because no one bothered to let me know the bloody Scottish cup was due on 6th September. I am reliably informed that the dates for these rounds were set and approved some time ago and are included in the council minutes which are sent out to every association. The problem is I DO NOT get sent these minutes. My affection for this wonderful competition just grows and grows, It truly is a wonder of the world…………… aaagh someone pass a bucket!!!

So on we went, a new fixture list, some new blood pressure tablets for yours truly and surely nothing else could go wrong……….Ehm well not quite, as we all saw it proceeded to piss down for two days solid and washed out practically every game. I say practically because Tayport managed to get their game against Lochee Central on. An 8-1 win for the Fifers. While Sandys played up in Perth against Badgers Bar and would you believe Big Webby’s boys, well they actually went and won hitting nine goals in the process. A nap hand for George Shields, two for John Foley and singles from Brent Mitchell and David McDonald. I may have been mistaken or it may just have been interference on the answer machine but I could have sworn I heard Webby laughing as he read out his scorers………..very strange goings on!!! I mean Morning football's answer to Victor Meldrew laughing …no surely no it has been some week I must be hearing things now.

So we will try again with week 4 and surely this early in the season we can’t have any more games off... can we?

All the best and take care... Alex.

Latest News

Hello again. Well that’s week 2 done and dusted and almost a full house. The Birkhill v Broadway game did not go ahead. The ref left a message on my answer machine at 9.24 am to say he was injured. I didn’t hear the message until later on in the day but even if I had heard it at 9.24am, what chance have I got to arrange a replacement? Sorry lads, most things I can get done but the impossible is something else.

I saw a bit of the Angus Thistle v Douglas Athletic game this morning which was re-arranged for Lochee Park (A big thank you to the parks dept for letting me know Downfield was off. NOT!!!) Anyway it was a good game which Douglas won 2-1 but the Jags were not happy that a last gasp equaliser was chalked off for a push on one of the Douglas players. Ah well there is always next week!!!

Harlequins edged out Sandys at Monymusk with two goals each from Michael Jorgenson and Chris Taylor. Big Webby must be tearing his hair out, goals from David McDonald (2 ) and Chris Smith not enough and it’s a another blank Sunday. Dundee Social have Mr Vials back at the helm and his team talk must have been good as Michelin scored after 30 seconds but Morning football’s answer to Jim McLean had all the answers. Goals from Gogs McDonald and Steven Gracie clinched the points for the former Champions.

Cutty Sark made it two wins from two with a 5-1 win at Lochee Central. A hat-trick from Richie Blake with Brian Bell and Lee Hunt also on the scoresheet. Two goals from Davie Hynds was as good as it got for Bonargrove as Tayport hit six past them at Claypotts. I can’t see Bonar winning many games soon. (Is that ok Norrie ? ) Sorry folks just a wee joke between me and Norrie Burns who thinks they only win when I tip them not to.

Club 67 scored nine goals against Blackness ..Good ..but conceded six…Bad!! Anyway it’s a first win for the new lads. A Ryan Rigden treble, two each from George Murphy and James Tracey with singles for Kyle Cormack and Brian Pink . (If I have got your name wrong Brian… apologies but that’s how it sounded on the answer machine.)

FC Planet came from behind again this week. AFC Kokomo went two up and then conceded eight, from Steven Houston (2 ) Michael Bannan (2 ) Ian Dolan (2 ) Ryan Fyffe and Mikey Lamb. A wee message for the Koko lads. It would be much appreciated if you could phone your result in. Thanks ever so much!!!

Fintry Athletic picked up full points against a weakened Doc Ferrys side. Jamie Bell (2 ) Danny McGregor (2 Penalties ) and Bobby Buchan (2 ) with the goals.

That’s about it for now, but as you will see the first free weeks of the season will kick in on week 3. You must at all cost try and avoid free weeks. They will come back to bite your arse when the bad weather causes games to be put off in the winter and come April and May when the midweek games start. All I am asking is you think twice before sending in a request for a free week.
All the best and take care.
Alex.

Latest News

Welcome to the first news page of season 2009 / 2010. Well what a start. A new season but I am afraid more of the same old, same old. One week before the start of the season after all the preparations have been done and Douglas LFP pull out of the Association. If that’s not bad enough, day one sees, Bayview and newcomers Rock AFC decide not to show up for their allocated games and could not be bothered to phone and let me know. I wonder, why the fuck did I bother to carry on this season?

Anyway it’s August and that can only mean one thing, yes the ‘X Factor’ is back, god bless Simon Cowell. Ooops sorry no what I meant was Morning football is back, god bless Charlie Reilly!!! Joking aside this should be a great season with plenty of good teams in with a chance of winning things and plenty who may not but who will enjoy it just the same. It won’t be the same without big Sandy Rae, well for a start the meetings will be over a lot quicker and with a lot less swearing!!! Only joking big man …..what do you mean, fuck off!!!

Champions Cutty Sark started with a win, but Angus Thistle made them work for it. Cutty eventually won it 6-5 after a cracking game played in driving rain. Lee Hunt ( 2 ) Bobby Scott ( 2 ) Wayne Reilly and Paul Johnstone for the Champs with Colin ‘ Bomber ‘ Lancaster hitting two penalties, Mark Hird, Brian Brown and Andy Murray on target for the Jags and no it is not THE Andy Murray. Jags Goalie Steven Williamson and Sweeper Tam Ballantine were terrific for Thistle.

I tipped Sandys to beat Bonargrove at Lochee Park and that can only mean one thing, yep, Bonar walloped them 6-2. Mark ‘ Sheva ‘ Middleton with a double, Mustafa Alsafal, Robbie Smith, Craig Stevens and Davie Hynd hitting the net. Big Webby was sounding even more depressed than usual, 'lost our discipline, lost our shape, lost the game' was his summing up and even goals from David McDonald and Andy Heggie could not cheer him up!!!

Newcomers Club 67 had a great win away to Doc Ferrys. In a game where Docs missed their chances and the Club 67 made no mistake with theirs. FC Planet came from three goals down to edge out Birkhill. Four goals from Steven Houston sealed a fantastic comeback

Michelin put paid to First Division Champions Lochee Central with a 5-3 win at the Factory Ground. Highlight was the Michelin goalie getting on the scoresheet with a clearance from hand sailing straight into the opposition net!!

The fixtures posted for 30th August Week 2 are now subject to change. I don’t see any point allocating fixtures to clubs who won’t play them. I want assurances from these clubs they can and will fulfil their fixtures. If I do not get assurances they will not get any games. I will post the revised fixtures a.s.a.p.

Cheers, Alex.
