News Update 03.10.11

This weeks results have now been updated on the Fixtures/Results page, and the league table is also up-to-date.

Please not next weeks fixtures include both Scottish Cup and McGuire Trophy fixtures.

Hello morning people.  Hope you are all well.  So that was week eight and our first major hiccup arrives!  The Tayview  v Dundee Social game did not go ahead due to the non appearance of the match referee.  A report has been forwarded to the referees association and no comment will be forthcoming from us until the refs association get back to us and our executive committee have discussed the issue in full with both teams.

And so to the action… Take a bow Angus Thistle! The Jags shocked the Fifers of Tayport at Downfield taking all three points in a 4-3 win.  Their win was all the more impressive because twice they had to pull back a deficit, throw in a last minute goalie change when veteran centre half Mike Malone had to go between the sticks and it does not really get any better for the Jags.  Tayport raced into two goal lead before Wayne Louden hit back it soon became 3-1 for the fifers but the second half produced an amazing about turn.A fortunate own goal made it 3-2 and it was 3-3 courtesy of Wayne Louden’s second of the game.  More was to come and Davie Robb hit what proved to be the winner.  ‘Mr Angus Thistle’, Stewart Hutt was delighted with his team, the win and the magnificent performance from stand in goalie Mike Malone.  “A great performance from our boys who gave everything for the cause and had to withstand a Tayport onslaught towards the end of the game when they threw everything at us”

Michelin continued their recent fine form with a terrific away win at Fintry.  John Foley was majestic again and notched his second hat trick in a week.  Ian Mitchell, Steven Reid and Ryan Gray all on target in a 6-4 victory as the champions stay top!

Cutty Sark bounced  back after their defeat at Michelin with a 6-1 away win over Blackness.  Two each for Jimmy Crerar and Jimmy Deasley with Lee Rolleveldt and John Darling also on the scoresheet.  Wayne ‘No 10’ Lorimer notched a consolation for Blackness who despite the defeat gave a good account of themselves.

Douglas Athletic had things all their own way against Doc Ferrys at Dawson Park.   Darren White and Ryan White hit hat-tricks while Sean Johnstone and Mikey Tarbett  grabbed doubles.  Ricki Ferguson, Michael Watkins and Dale Harwood made up an impressive tally for the Blue Man U.  This was always going to be a big ask for Doc Ferrys but they can take heart that Douglas are a good side and they won’t face sides of their calibre every week.

I’ve not had a blether with you of late, it’s been a hectic time recently.  So what’s been going on out with the morning football world?  Well how about our big brothers in the professional game proving once again how brilliant they all are.  All out of Europe, out of money, out of ideas and would you believe it the English team are at it again wanting out of Scotland….two words,  Bye Bye !!!!!   OK I will admit it both them and the Irish team are way way too big for our organisation and should be playing somewhere else …but and it is a big but where will they go? England are saying no and a possible European league is still a dream.  So until they have a definite plan and a way out give it a rest.  We all know they want out, the vast majority of other team supporters want them out (a two team league has gone beyond boring) we are all bored rigid listening to it give us a break!!!!

And while I am at it how about our national team?  Beat Spain …are you having a laugh, beat Lichtenstein Ha ha ha ha ha ha.  No sorry we should scrape a win there maybe with a goal in the 135th minute and then onto the world cup qualifiers where we will be in the pot with other world giants the Outer Hebrides, the back of beyond and Timbuktoo !!!

As some of you might know I enjoy watching a better class of programme on tele.  You know the thing Panorama, Question Time, Politics Today,  Loose Women  but  you just can’t beat the winter offerings of  the Z Factor and Strictly Come Mincing.  Not a note sung in tune, not an ounce of talent, not two steps in time, more cheese than a cheese factory, roll on the winter.   Oh and while I am on the subject of winter, how long before our friends the weather experts give us their words of wisdom for those long dark cold winter days.  Climate change, blah blah, Global warming blah, blah, blah, Ozone layer, blah, blah, blah,  look at me I know what I am talking about blah, blah effin blah.   And as I have said many times before they actually get well paid to spout this pish and drivel.   So here is the weather forecast without all the shit that they give us.   It rains in the summer, it snows and is cold as shit in Winter.  There you are it’s as simple as that and not a mention of climate change in sight.

Well that’s enough blethers and hot air for now (Oops sorry I wasn’t going to mention climate change ) , all the best and take care… Cheers, Alex.
