Hello folks, hope things are good. Apologies for the updates not being posted last week. I was away for a few days and things just had to wait. The results for weeks 4 and 5 should be with you now and the updates will be back to normal.
No doubting who will grab the headlines this week!! Thomson Accies notched up a magnificent 5-4 win over league leaders Fintry Athletic. Accies were brilliant with goals from Andy Williams, David Stillie, Darren Cunningham and two goal Danny Terry giving them a 5-1 lead in the game. As you would expect Fintry never gave in and managed to reduce the deficit to one goal. Thomsons though bravely held on to record a memorable win. The big games keep coming for Accies as they host former champions Dundee Social on Sunday. Social kept on the heels of the league leaders with a 6-2 home win over Angus Thistle at Fairmuir. There is a long way to go but they have made a steady start and the signs are that they will again be in challenging for honours after last seasons disappointments. The Jags can take a lot from this game and it was not until late in the game that the dark blues pulled away and clinched the game. It was a treble of doubles for the dark blues with Jamesie McCord, James Thomson and Lee Hunt all hitting two each. Jordan ‘ Jo’ Anderson and Davie Ogilvie notching for the Jags.
Cutty Sark are looking very strong and an 8-1 win away to Ferry Innter kept their 100% record and moved them top of the league. A fabulous foursome from Bobby Scott with Terry Connell, Paddy Brown, Jimmy Deasley and Jimmy Crerar all hitting the net. Ferry Inter were not close but they should take heart and keep their heads up because Cutty are well capable of doing that to most teams in the league.
Michelin go level on points with Cutty Sark at the top of the table but have played a game more. The Champions overcome a brave Douglas Athletic side at Monymusk thanks to goals from Steven Reid, Mark Gorthy and a John Foley double. George Lawson and Ryan Walker on target for Douglas who are improving with each game.Blackness at last put a point on the board when they drew 2-2 with Tallys. Peter Richardson and Wayne “No 10” Lorimer on the scoreboard for a much improved Blacky side who according to gaffer Paul “Ando” Anderson played really well and should have won the game.
Doc Ferrys must be kicking themselves that they came away with nothing from their game with Tayview United. The game turned on a disputed goal late on with Docs leading 4-3, the ref ruling that the ball had crossed the line to give Tayview an equaliser. Docs took their protests too far and had a man sent off . Tayview took full advantage and scored late goals to win 7-4. Darren Cree (2) and Paul McDade (2) on the scoreboard for Doc Ferrys.
That’s it for now folks, take care… Alex.
